Chicken Satay- King of Naka Market !

Complicated as it looks, the dish that has it's origins from Indonesia is now prominent in Thailand's largest island. It can be obtained from a travelling satay vendor or from a street-side tent-restaurant. However, the best satay is made at Naka market, also known as the 'Phuket Weekend Market' which is located along Chao Fa West Road just outside Phuket Town.

The meat these skewers contain will first be seasoned, then marinated and finally grilled atop charcoal! One could inhale its fumes and yet not choke as it's aroma can defeat the sensory organs! The price depends upon the seasonings and meat used in the preparation. It costs around just 20 Baht to the maximum of 50 baht per skewer. Each skewer usually holds 4 pieces of meat, some only 3 pieces.

Satay may be served with a spicy peanut sauce dip...yes peanuts can get spicy here! Another popular dip is the sweet soy sauce which tastes tremendously good with chicken satay. Locals recommend pineapple-based satay sauce for pork satay. Never had plans to eat any meat other than chicken and if situation demands mutton...but pork? Never.Ever.

As the name suggests the market works only on Saturdays and Sundays. Do thank the vendors with 'Kaphun kha/khrap' to get colourful chicken as a bonus!(Exceptional to some shops only)
