Thai Fried Bananas are a very common street food in Thailand. This dish is available in all seasons. If you can communicate in Thai feel free to ask for this yummy recipe...which I din't ask for unfortunately ! Kluay Tod is an ideal snack, dessert or an appetizer. This dessert has been influenced be the Muslim way of cooking deep fried jackfruit in southern Thailand and Malaysia. But however, Thai people today use less ripened bananas instead of jackfruit.
The dish is prepared by dipping the bananas into a batter (already prepared) and deep fried in oil until it turns golden brown. Your bananas are perfectly fried if you notice sesame seeds on it. Warm deep fried bananas are delicious. Since Thais enjoy eating between meals you can find street vendors at almost every street corner around Thailand and bananas are available all year!
Kluay Tod is the best food which can be served as a dessert unlike other street food which is mainly meat. This dish is indeed a life saver for all vegan tourists. Usually a plate has 5-6 pieces and it costs about 30-40 Baht, depending upon your vendor. If you spare time enjoy this food served on a wooden plate ,else take away in a bag !
